Wedding Music Packages

As Founder of Luxe Harmony, one of the questions I get asked most before a couple books is what’s actually included in wedding music packages. Pricing in this industry can feel confusing until someone walks you through it, so here’s how we and most companies break it down, starting with the ceremony and moving through the rest of your day.

Ceremony Music: What Wedding Music Packages Typically Include

Most ceremony music starts with a prelude, roughly fifteen to thirty minutes of music while your guests find their seats. Depending on the couple, that music is either chosen by you or left to be chosen by your musicians. From there comes the processional for your bridesmaids and family. It’s completely customizable. Some couples pick a separate song for the bridesmaids, others want the family walking in to a different song, and every so often a couple asks for a special song just for the groom’s entrance.

After that comes your bridal processional, the song written for the bride’s entrance alone.

Any music needed during the ceremony itself, a moment of prayer or meditation, is already covered too, since you’re paying for the musicians for the full hour regardless. The recessional at the end rounds it all out. All of this typically falls under one ceremony package.

Add-Ons

A lot of couples add cocktail hour music as a separate service, timed for while you and your partner are off taking photos. It’s usually about an hour of live, upbeat music for your guests to enjoy while they mingle to keep things entertaining.

There’s also a dinner or reception add-on many couples include in their wedding music packages, which is usually billed by the hour rather than as a flat rate. How Wedding Music Packages Are Priced and Set Up

Most wedding musicians charge by the event rather than by the hour. A fifteen-minute ceremony and a forty-five-minute ceremony are usually priced the same, since that thirty-minute prelude is already built into the base price. Once a ceremony runs closer to an hour and a half, some musicians do charge more for the added time.

Repertoire: What to Ask Your Musicians

Not every wedding musician plays the same way. At Luxe Harmony, our musicians are classically trained and read sheet music, so we can learn any song you request. Other musicians work from a fixed setlist and won’t stray from it. If there’s a specific or lesser-known song you’re hoping for, it’s worth asking your musicians directly how flexible their repertoire is.

Travel Fees: What to Ask Before You Book

Travel fees vary a lot by company. At Luxe Harmony, we typically connect couples with musicians local to their venue, so travel fees aren’t standard for us. The exception is when a couple specifically requests one of our musicians who isn’t local to that wedding. Some companies work with a much smaller pool of musicians, so if you’re hiring a soloist who has to fly in from another city, expect a travel fee.

Amplification for Outdoor Weddings

This one matters more than people expect. A lot of wedding musicians simply don’t carry proper sound equipment, and if you’re getting married outdoors, amplification usually isn’t optional, no matter how small your guest list is. A violin sits at roughly the same volume as a speaking voice, so if your officiant needs a microphone, your musician needs one too. It’s a good question to ask any live musician you’re considering, especially for an outdoor ceremony.
