The Addison of Boca Raton Wedding: What Musicians Want Couples to Know
If you're considering The Addison of Boca Raton for your wedding, here's what I learned from being there myself.
As Creative Director of Luxe Harmony and violinist in our harp-and-violin duo, I recently performed at The Addison of Boca Raton, and it's quickly become one of my favorite Palm Beach County venues to talk through with couples.
What Size Ensemble Works Best for an Addison of Boca Raton Wedding
The space at The Addison is generous, and a harp-and-violin duo filled it beautifully. A solo musician can absolutely still work here, but with a venue this open, the sound has more room to spread out, so a fuller ensemble like a duo, trio, or quartet tends to feel more proportional to the space.
Sound and Amplification
Musicians are typically positioned a fair distance from where guests are seated for the ceremony, so amplification isn't optional here. There's also a striking water fountain near the ceremony area. It's beautiful to look at and lovely to hear in passing, but it adds real, ongoing volume to the sound environment. Between the distance and the fountain, your musicians will need to be properly amplified to be heard clearly.
Weather Plan and the Option to Go Acoustic
Because the ceremony space is outdoors, The Addison has an indoor backup plan in place for weather, and it's a beautiful space in its own right. Worth mentioning to your planner: playing indoors can actually work out well for musicians too. Depending on the instruments involved, an indoor ceremony sometimes opens up the option to perform without amplification at all, which is a nice acoustic touch if that's something you'd like.
Arrival, Parking, and Load-In
Musicians should park in the main lot at the front entrance, toward the back of the lot, so the closer spaces stay open for your guests. Load-in happens through that same main entry point, and it's important for musicians to arrive with plenty of time so guests aren't watching a group unload and set up as they arrive. The access into the venue itself is smooth with no stairs or long walkways to navigate. The one exception is around the ceremony space itself, where there are a few stairs leading down toward the fountain, so that's worth factoring in depending on exactly where you want musicians set up.
