John's Island Club Wedding

As Creative Director and violinist at Luxe Harmony, I’ve had the privilege of performing at so many elegant and romantic weddings, but this Windsor Chapel / John’s Island Club wedding is one I’ve been wanting to write about since it happened back in May.

Jane and Tully were married at Windsor Chapel, with cocktail hour at John’s Island Club, and from the rehearsal on Friday through the last note of cocktail hour, it was one of those days where every detail felt intentional.

Wedding Rehearsal and Custom Vocal Arrangement

Before we ever set foot in the chapel, we were deep into preparation. Jane and Tully wanted one of their cousins to sing during part of the ceremony, so we started coordinating with her weeks in advance, sending her a recording of the song and writing a full arrangement built around her voice so we’d already be in the same key by rehearsal day. By the time we all sat down together for the Friday rehearsal, all that was left to do was walk through her entrance and her cue. That’s the kind of preparation that makes a performance feel effortless instead of rehearsed. Because it was.

Vows at Windsor Chapel

The ceremony was held at Windsor Chapel, which recently underwent a renovation that included new acoustic paneling throughout the space. I’ve played there for years, and the difference is remarkable. The sound used to bounce everywhere. Now the acoustics are refined enough that we performed the entire ceremony without amplification, which is rare for us and genuinely beautiful when it happens.

Outside, it was a warm, sunlit May day in Florida, and just beyond the chapel windows, polo players moved across the grounds on horseback. Jane and Tully chose Windsor Chapel because their faith mattered to them, and they wanted their ceremony grounded in that. It’s a small chapel, but it held the weight of that meaning well.

Outdoor Wedding Cocktail Hour at John’s Island Club

From there, we moved to cocktail hour at John’s Island Club, out on the pool deck, one of our favorite spots to play. Jane and Tully built their whole day around a pink-and-green Palm Beach palette, a nod to the coastal, polished feel they wanted for guests traveling in from Tennessee for their destination wedding. We matched right along with them in pink dresses ourselves.

Their ceremony and cocktail hour were also live streamed for family who couldn’t be there in person, which meant our quartet was, in a sense, playing for two audiences at once. During cocktail hour, one of their grandchildren became completely transfixed by the music, and their photographer caught a quiet, unscripted moment of the mother of the bride dancing with the child. Those are the moments that end up mattering more than anything staged, and it’s part of what makes a John’s Island Club wedding feel so different from a standard reception timeline.

Family Traditions and a Custom Wedding Arrangement

Two details from this day will stay with me. Jane wore her grandmother’s wedding dress, passed down from grandmother to mother to daughter. And the arrangement we wrote for her cousin was written exclusively for that voice, for that ceremony: a piece of music that exists nowhere else, performed only once, for them.

Jane and Tully found us through a Google search, and their wedding planner was the one who first reached out on their behalf before recommending us directly. When I spoke with Jane’s mother early on, it was clear how much the music mattered to this family. They weren’t looking for something to fill the silence. They wanted the ceremony and cocktail hour to be something their guests remembered, and that kind of trust is exactly what I take seriously with every couple we work with.
